Growth and Survival Rate of Crayfish / Crawfish / crawdads

This research was held on October 20th – desember 20th 2006, in laboratory Indoor Fishery,  Animal Husbandry and Fishery University of Muhammadiyah Malang. The purpose of this  reaserch is to know the growth and survival rate crayfish / crawfish (Cherax quadricarinatus) in  which expansion on extreme density unit difference spreading and to know is how much is  giving and growth of survival rate best of freshwater crayfish (Cherax quadricarinatus) in  extreme density unit.

The method which by used is experiment method and the study program that be used are complete random program (RAL) by using 3 treatment and 3 repeated cover : treatment of A  (spreding dense about 8), treatment of B (spreding dense about 14) and treatment of C (spreding dense about 20). The parameter of test which be used are main parameter and support parameter,  the main parameter are growth and survival rate while the support parameter are temperature,  dissolved oxygen (DO), and acid degree (pH). The data analysis which be carried out by variance test, if F test give significant influence, thus it will go on to smallest significance different (BNT).

The result of research show that the difference spreading dense of freshwater crayfish (Cherax quadricarinatus) on extreme density unit did not give significant in fluence to survival rate, but it gives significant in fluence to Specific Growth Rate (SGR), where highest growth level reached at teeatment of A (8) equal to 1,74 % BW / day. Result of measurement of quality water during research that is temperature : 24.0 - 24.7 ° C, pH  : 8.1 –8.0 and dissolve oxygen (DO): 5,8 – 6,4 mg / l.

Based on result of research can be concluded that the difference spreading dense of crayfish / crawfish (Cherax quadricarinatus) on extreme density unit did not give influence to survival rate, but it give influence to specific growth rate (SGR), the best growth was derived form A treatment with spreading dense 8 fish/aquarium.
