Blood Worm (Chironomus Sp.) |
Husbandry Faculty – Fishery Muhammadiyah University Malang.
Purpose of this research are to fins out the giving of frozen blood worm (Chironomus sp.) with
different percentage to the speed of growth, FCR and the lifelines of the origin of freshwater
lobster (Cherax quadricarinatus).
Results of this research are hoped giving information to the society or practitioner who involved
in cultivation of crayfish / crawfish, about the use of a blood worm (larva Chironomus sp.) as the
woof of crayfish / crawfish.
This research is using experiment method by data taking using direct observation. Design of
research that used is complete random design (RAL) with 4 treatments and 3 times repeat. The
treatment giving frozen blood worm (Chironomus sp.) to the origin of crayfish / crawfish (Cherax
quadricarinatus) with different percentage, those are 7% from biomass weight (treatmen A), 9%
from biomass weight (treatmen B), 11% from biomass weight (treatmen C) and 13% from
biomass weight (treatment D).
Frozen Blood Worm |
different percentage gives significant impact to the growth of origin of crayfish / crawfish
(Cherax quadricarinatus) with account F are 4,95 (Table F 5% = 4,07 and 1% = 7,59) that means
refuse H0 and accept H1. From this research gained growth speed means specific (SGR) origin
of crayfish / crawfish during this research were in about 6,99 – 7,50% BW/day lobster’s age are
10 days. For the treatment D (13%) shows growth speed means specific (SGR) that is the best
with 7,50% BW/day, followed by treatment B (9%) 7,44% BW/day, treatment A (7%) 7,13%
BW/day, and the lowest treatment are treatment C (11%) 6,99% BW/day.
Result from random examination shows that giving frozen blood worm (Chironomus sp) in
different percentage gives significant impact to the Food Conversion Rating (FCR) origin of
crayfish / crawfish (Cherax quadricarinatus) with account F 17,09 (Tabel F 5% = 4,07 and 1% =
7,59). The best Food Conversion Rating (FCR) was in treatment A (7%) with value 13,2 gram
and the lowest are treatment D (13%) 24,98 gram. Treatment B (9%) are 24,23 gram, then
treatment C (11%) are 16,92 gram.
Resulit of random investigation shows that treatment give indifferent impact to the lifelines (SR)

origin of crayfish / crawfish (Cherax quadricarinatus) with account F are 0,90 (table F 5% = 4,07
and 1% = 7,59). From this research gained value of lifelines (FR) origin of crayfish / crawfish
(Cherax quadricarinatus) during this research are 70-100%.
Result of measurement of water quality as the support parameter during this research is
homogeny and still in the value that are suitable to life and the growth of origin of freshwater
lobster (Cherax quadricarinatus) C and dissolved oxygen around 7,82 – in temperature around
22,23 – 22,55 8,01 mg/1, pH around 7,70 – 7,79.
From this result can be concluded that giving frozen blood worm (Chironomus sp.) in different
percentage (7%, 9%, 11% and 13%) giving significant impact to the Speed Growth Ratio, giving
significant impact to the Food Conversion Ratio and did not give significant impact to the
lifelines (SR) to the origin of crayfish / crawfish (Cherax quadricarinatus).
Based on this research hoped in increasing good speed growth in raising crayfish / crawfish
(Cherax quadricarinatus) the food is should be natural food, fresh blood worm (Chironomus sp)
or in life based on the best doses and also need improvement in cultivation of blood worm
(Chironomus sp.) as an alternative food for crayfish / crawfish (Cherax quadricarinatus).
